Agios Georgios church was constructed on the ruins of an earlier structure that was destroyed by fire around 1830. It is a three-aisled basilica with a gabled roof that was inaugurated in 1857 by Meletios I, the bishop of Kyrenia. The exhibition Treasures of the Church of Agios Georgios Alona features over 40 authentic artefacts and a wealth of supervisory and informative materials, eradicating the mediaeval and post-Byzantine face and personality of Alona.
